Economy States - Tamil Nadu TN sets up special task force on industry Our Bureau
Chennai , Nov. 8 The Tamil Nadu Government has constituted a Special Task Force headed by the Chief Minister, Mr M. Karunanidhi, to tackle industry issues and encourage industrial growth, according to an official press release. The task force includes the Chief Secretary, Mr L.K. Tripathy, and leading industrialists and representatives from industry association. The industrialists on the Special Task Force are Dr M.A.M. Ramasamy, industrialist, Mr Venu Srinivasan, Chairman and Managing Director, TVS Motor Company Ltd, Mr N. Srinivasan, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, India Cements, Mr Ram V. Tyagarajan, Chairman and Managing Director, Thiru Arooran Sugars, and Mr P.R. Ramasubrahmaneya Rajha, Chairman, Madras Cements. The industry association representatives included are Mr P.K.N. Panicker, President, Chemical Industries Association, Mr M. Rafeeque Ahmed, Council for Leather Exports, Mr M. Manickam, President, South Indian Sugar Mills Association, Mr A. Sakthivel, Chairman, Federation of Indian Export Organisations (Southern Region) and Chairman, Tirupur Exporters Association, Mr Sanjay Jayavarthanavelu, Chairman, Confederation of Indian Industry (TN State Council), Mr S.V. Arumugam, President, Southern India Mills Association, and Mr V. Ramchandran, Chairman (Southern Region), Automotive Components Manufacturers Association. Quoting Mr Karunanidhi, the release said that the formation of the task force is in line with his announcement in the Assembly that such a team would be formed to encourage government-industry interaction, represent industries' issues and encourage investments.
