Plans to improve customer service, cut down transaction time and operating cost

Coimbatore , Nov. 9

State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur is pushing its business process re-engineering (BPR) plan to improve customer service, cut down transaction time and operating cost and enable branches focus on marketing/sales.

Speaking to Business Line, Mr M. Ramasamy, Chief General Manager, SBBJ, said the bank had over the years re-oriented itself from `nominal trend-based' growth to `techno-driven' advancements with multiple delivery channels. `We are targeting to cross the Rs 50,000-crore mark in business by March 2007.'

It recently started an `agri-processing cell' at Baran in Rajasthan and a `trade finance cell' at Jaipur. `The litmus test on any of our new initiatives is first tested in our home turf (Rajasthan), before replicating the same across other regions.

Agri-processing cell

Within 2 days of inaugurating the agri-processing cell, we had sanctioned close to Rs 3.50 lakh involving 149 beneficiaries. We have been extremely well on the trade finance front too,' he said and added that by March 2007, the bank would have a cheque processing, liability processing and detail assets processing cells.

SBBJ recently introduced a health insurance product `SBBJ National Medikavach' in association with National Insurance Company Ltd. According to Mr Ramasamy, the response to this product was `resounding'.
