PSU insurance officers plan stir

Our Bureau

Kochi, Nov. 9

All the Class-I officers of the four public sector insurance companies such as New India Assurance, National Insurance, United India Insurance and Oriental Insurance will strike work on November 14.

Mr P.P. Mohanan, Kerala State Vice-President of General Insurance Officers All India Association, said the officers are on a warpath against GIPSA's (General Insurers Public Sector Association) move to unilaterally implement the revised promotion policy, which is detrimental to the interests of the officer community. Sending out the officers who are not getting promotion three years consecutively, common promotion zone for all the 4 PSU companies after the level of Deputy General Manager category, filling of 50 per cent promotion vacancy through written examination are some of the controversial proposals in the new promotion scheme. He urged the management to desist from the move to demoralise the officers in the backdrop of stiff competition with the private insurance companies.
