The 20th international conference on VLSI Design scheduled to be held from January 6-10, 2007, will focus on the challenges and opportunities in nano-electronics. Topics that will be discussed in the conference include organic electronics; real-time operating systems for embedded systems development and low power design techniques for SOCs and microprocessors.

Some of the keynote speakers are Mr Wim Roelandts, President, CEO and Chairman of Board, Xilinx Corporation; Mr Rene Penning de Vries, Senior Vice-President and CTO, NXP Semiconductors; Mr Sandip Tiwari, Director, Nanoscale Facility, Cornell University; Mr Ahmed Bahai, Chief Technologist and Fellow, National Semiconductors; and Mr Ajith Amerasekera, Director Technology Strategy and ASIC CTO, Texas Instruments.
