New Delhi, Nov. 9

The Union Health Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Dr Anbumani Ramadoss, has proposed a mandatory rural posting of doctors for a period of one year for them to become certified doctors.

Inaugurating the 51st annual conference of Indian Orthopaedic Association (IOA), the Minister said the IOA should take greater initiative in training doctors in trauma care emergency preparedness, which was the need of the hour.

He also proposed the setting up of trauma care centres every 100 km on National Highways in collaboration with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.

He also announced the setting up of a sports medicine centre.
