GVK Industries Ltd has announced that it has bagged the Asia-Pacific Electricity Award 2006 for its 235-MW Jegurupadu combined cycle power plant located in Andhra Pradesh, according to a statement from the company.

This is the first independent power project commissioned in 1997 in India.
