Kerala CM for joint efforts to generate jobs

The Chief Minister, Mr V.S. Achuthanandan, has called for combined efforts by the Government and the private sector for employment generation in the State.
He also asked management associations to develop professional managers to run companies more efficiently. He was inaugurating the workshop on `Developmental agenda for employment generation in Kerala' organised by Kerala Management Association to mark the 50th anniversary of the formation of Kerala State.
Dr G.C. Gopala Pillai, Chairman and Managing Director, FACT, said in his keynote address: "We should give special care to preserve and extend magnificent achievements in the social sector and expand the modern secondary and tertiary sectors even while nurturing and making viable the traditional industries and occupations, with a view to creating right environment for the flow of private capital into these sectors".
Speaking on tourism, Mr T. Damu, Vice-President, Taj Group of Hotels, asked the industry to give importance to eco-tourism, which has become the highest revenue earner in the world today. He also highlighted the need to promote tourism in Malabar area, which is still not explored.
Presenting his paper on agro foods, Mr George Paul, Director, Synthite Group, asked to exploit the advantages of globalisation.
