After CAT, there may be DAT

Our Bureau

Bangalore, Nov. 10

After CAT and GATE, there may soon be DAT for graduates in the country. The National Institute of Design, along with other leading design and architecture schools in the country, is seriously considering the launch of a Design Aptitude Test (DAT) that would be accepted in more than 10 institutes (including the IITs) in the country, according to Dr Darlie O Koshy, Director, National Institute of Design. He was speaking to reporters here after the launch of two new programmes at the NID, Bangalore Campus, in the areas of retail design and digital experience. Mr Koshy said the matter would be discussed at the Design Summit to be held in Delhi early next month. "We want to ensure that design is connected to the market in an intimate manner," he said.

The post-graduate programmes in `Design for retail experience' and `Design for digital experience' will be offered at NID's Bangalore R&D campus from June 2007. NID's Bangalore campus was launched in March this year and is now conducting a series of workshops in animation design anchored by Mr Ishu Patel, animator and film director.
