Alcatel and C-DOT have set up WiMAX reality lab which will bring together experts from across India, test and build pre-integrated customer-specific solutions. It will serve as a showcase of broadband wireless access for rural, urban and suburban regions in India, says a press release issued by Alcatel, a French telecom major.

WiMAX is a broadband wireless access technology that enables connectivity through wireless networks for fixed or mobile use in urban, suburban and rural areas.

Hosted at the C-DOT Alcatel Research Centre, a broadband wireless research and development centre with 51 per cent owned by Alcatel and 49 per cent by C-DOT, the lab will have end-to-end architecture consisting of base stations and WiMAX Access Controller.
