Malabar Shopping Fest from Dec 20

The Kozhikode district administration in association with the Corporation of Kozhikode City is conducting Malabar Shopping Festival from December 20 to January 20, as part of the 140th anniversary celebration of the Corporation.

The festival is being organised to promote business as well as tourism. The Kozhikode District Collector, Dr A. Jayathilak, is the Director of the Festival and the Mayor, Mr M. Bhaskaran, is the Chairman of the Organising Committee.

PROGRAMMES

Different programmes have been planned with a view to attracting people even from neighbouring States and thereby creating the complete `Malabar Experience'.

Demonstrations by the Navy, Air Force and Fire Force, paragliding, hot air balloon, water sports demonstrations, cool snow park, helicopter ride will be included to stir up visitors. Illumination and decoration competitions for the shoppers, lucky draws, halwa festival, international football competition, treasure hunts, package tour, floating restaurants, flying trapeze, Burma bridge, commando net, tarson swing, elephant, horse and camel rides will also be part of the festival.

INFOTAINMENT

During the one-month-long carnival, multifarious business seminars, health seminars, cyber games, quizzes involving the culture and other facets of Malabar have been designed. Impresario, the prime event marketing company, is the event manager of the festival.

The official logo of the festival was launched by Mr P.K.S. Samuthiri Raja at a function at Tagore Centenary Hall, Kozhikode. A Web site on the festival will be launched soon.
