New Delhi , Nov 15

Gulf Air Cargo is to operate a twice a week charter flight on the Bahrain-Chennai-Bangalore-Amsterdam sector.

In a statement, the airline has said that it would operate an Airbus A-300 aircraft having a capacity of 40 tonnes on the new route.

"Initially, the new route will be operated for the next two or three months after which it will be reviewed," said a senior Gulf Air official.

Currently, the airline that operates 61 weekly flights to India carries cargo in the belly of the aircraft that they operate. "With the exclusive freighter service, Gulf Air will be able to provide faster transit time to meet the demand originating from the Asian Sub-Continent and Far East markets to Europe while maintaining the integrity of our service standards," said the Vice-President Business Units, Mr Ali Murtada.
