Kolkata , Nov. 15 Audio/video and home theatre systems major Nakamichi has established its presence in Kolkata with the opening of eastern India's first exclusive Nakamichi Gallery here. The Nakamichi footprint will soon be extended to other cities in the region such as Bhubaneswar and Guwahati. The foray into Kolkata has been made through Pro-Acoustics, a strategic alliance partner of the Singapore-based Nakamichi Corporation Ltd, which in turn, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Nakamichi Corporation of Japan. Pro-Acoustics is the exclusive distributor for Nakamichi's audio/video and car audio products in India. As per the agreement, Pro-Acoustics will import, distribute, retail and service the entire range of Nakamichi products in India. According to Mr B. Sirajuddin, Regional Head - Asia Pacific, Nakamichi Corporation Ltd, the Nakamichi Gallery in Kolkata is in sync with the international store format. "It identifies with the corporate design guidelines of Nakamichi Corporation and is fully equipped to showcase the entire range of our high-end products, such as home audio, home theatre and car audio systems. Pro-Acoustics will offer complete solutions from concept to installation and service back up. Among the products on offer at the Nakamichi Gallery are the Soundspace range of stereo systems priced between Rs 26,000 and Rs 1,99,000 and the Soundspace series home theatre systems that are priced in the Rs 1,30,000-7,00,000 range. LCDs and plasma televisions that are priced at Rs 2,37,000 and above would also be available. Nakamichi has five exclusive outlets in India and the company has targeted sales of $5 million in the calendar year 2006, Mr Sirajuddin said.
