Global Motors to manufacture two-wheelers in Bengal

Global Motors, a joint venture between the China-based Xenitus Group and Guangzhou Motors company, is all set to begin its manufacturing facility in West Bengal, with a capacity of 20,000 pieces of two wheelers each month.

"We are ready to start operations at our West Bengal based manufacturing plant that has a capacity of 20,000 pieces of two wheelers every month. The capacities will be hiked up eventually, depending upon the demand," said Mr Santanu Ghosh, Chairman, Xenitus Group, India.

Global Motors plans to enter the two-wheeler market with the launch of four variants of its motorbikes, Xoom, in 100cc, 125cc, 150cc and 180cc, more so in keeping with the requirements of the Indian market. Mr Ghosh said that the company was currently working on the pricing, branding and distribution channel of the bike.

Guangzhou Motors will provide the joint venture company with technical support to set up the assembly line, production process, service network, product strategy control, marketing and selling. Besides motorbikes, the company also has plans of launching gearless scooters in India soon. .
