Government - Politics
With friends like these...

Media persons looking for some ammunition to embarrass the Government have wisened up to the fact that it is not the Opposition that can provide them with the required information. Instead, it is better to tap sources in the Government itself. After all, the note of caution on the Prime Minister's plans for a number of free trade agreements came from the Congress President, Sonia Gandhi; reservations against joining the Asean's `open-sky' policy came from the Civil Aviation Ministry; opposition to the indiscriminate approval to SEZs emanated from the Finance Ministry; and security concerns about FDI inflows were raised by a host of Ministries. Manmohan Singh would be apt in thinking that with friends like these, who needs enemies.
