Customised vehicles: Kinetic mulls joint ventures with US cos

MR AJINKYA FIRODIA

Mumbai , Nov. 16

Kinetic Group is looking at the manufacture of customised vehicles through joint ventures with companies based in the US. The niche products include electric scooter, go-karts, children's bikes, modified scooters for the disabled, delivery vehicles, police vehicles and emergency medical assistance vehicles.

According to Mr Ajinkya Firodia, Vice-President (Marketing and Sales), Kinetic Motor Company, the company is working on these products based on their vast experience in the automotive sector. Yet, it would like to tie-up with a leading player in the respective product lines to offer the products in double quick time.

Also, it has plans to manufacture engines, power packs (electronic device for the electric supply in vehicles) and sub-assemblies (an assembled unit forming a component to be fitted into the larger product) for small-scale motorcycle units who outsource these components. These products will primarily cater to the export market, said Mr Firodia.

For this export initiative, the company has in place a dedicated team well versed in international trade. Other benefits like minimum delivery period (within 30 days), assurance of after-sales service support (special service tools with every model, spare parts supplied with containers and product service training imparted at site) and tailor-made packaging (CBU, SKD or CKD) make it a lucrative option for prospective importers.

The vehicles can be modified to suit importing country's traffic and statutory regulations. This involves engine tuning to comply exhaust emission, noise, braking and host of other requirements.

Recently, the company exported the Kinetic Blaze to Japan. It has now got homologation certificates (EC Norms - European Union and Department of Transport, US) for Nova, GF 125, Luna TFR models.
