HCL engineers get Japanese language certificate

Our Bureau

Chennai , Nov. 16

HCL Technologies Ltd along with the Singapore-based Nihongo Bashi Institute for Japanese learning presented certificates of Japanese language proficiency to the second batch of 24 newly recruited engineers in HCL.

Mr Yuji Okada, Consulate of Japan, gave the certificates to the trained engineers. The new recruits were hired from prominent institutions in the country, and completed their 12 months training programme conducted by Nihongo Bashi.

Speaking at the function, Mr Gunaseelan Narayanan, senior Corporate Vice-President, HCL Technologies, said the cross cultural training programme at the Japanese Delivery Units in HCL (Chennai and Noida) aims at equipping engineers with relevant language and cultural skills. HCL engineers working in Japan are now in a better position to service Japanese clients, as they would understand the culture and communicate better, transforming transactional business to enhanced relationships with clients. "This further enforces our 10 years of commitment to the Japanese market," he said. HCL has been in Japan for the last ten years through its wholly owned subsidiary HCL Japan. It has around 500 employees working for various clients, said an official.
