Proactive interventions - a new concept to reduce staff exits

Anjali Prayag

Client-specific models charted out to address attrition

The three intervention models are: TRIM: Talent Retention Intervention Model, CORE: Creating ownership and responsibility and TEAM: Team effectiveness across multiple cultures.

Bangalore , Nov. 16

With attrition becoming a reality, companies are now looking at proactive interventions to retain employees as long as possible. "Proactive and accountable interventions that reflect directly on the RoI is the new concept that is being promoted by people management experts that will benefit companies," says Ms Yeshasvini Ramaswamy, Head, HR Services and Training, E2E Business Solutions.

E2E's HR division has charted out three intervention models for its clients that could address critical employee issues and thereby reducing the number of exits. Taken up on a turnkey basis, the deliverables for these assignments are very clear: to curb attrition. "Therefore, there is greater accountability in evaluating the role of HR in terms of RoI," explains Ms Yeshasvini.

The three intervention models are: TRIM: Talent Retention Intervention Model, CORE: Creating ownership and responsibility and TEAM: Team effectiveness across multiple cultures.

TRIM is client-specific and the sub-interventions are devised as per the group dynamics of the focus group. Ms Yeshasvini says that the reasons for attrition are usually specific to individuals and a retention strategy should focus on addressing individual issues. During the implementation of this model, organisations will get an opportunity to devise and audit their people engagement systems. TRIM can help organisations revisit their retention strategies by analysing pull factors and make them more effective and result oriented.

Companies that are experiencing instability among its senior employees are advised to adopt CORE. Here senior members of an organisation are spoken to and made to understand the impact of their roles. "There should be stability in critical roles and through CORE, we create the essential ownership among them that could make the organisation more stable."

The essential part here is that this has to be done before goal setting and employees given enough training to come to that role.

TEAM teaches employees to work in multicultural organisations. "We teach them simple fundamental things which will help work as effectively outside the country."

Set up in 2005, E2E Business Solutions offers legal and financial consulting solutions apart from HR consulting to its clients, some of which are Fortune100 companies.
