Bangalore, Nov. 20

The three-day annual Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) event is set to begin on November 24 in Bangalore. Linux Bangalore, as it was known earlier was repositioned as FOSS.IN in 2005, to address the wider scope of Free and Open Source Software. About 3,000 delegates attended the event last year. The term FOSS refers to technologies whereby the source code of software is freely distributed to the world. Apart from the seminars and discussions, an expo is also being concurrently organised to showcase the open source world, its people and technologies. The event covers technical discussions on FOSS technology to the socio-economic impact of FOSS in India and globally, said a press release.
