Honda Siel to roll out new model next week

Consumers looking for a new set of hot wheels can look forward to fresh action in the premium segment, with Honda Siel Cars India now all set to roll in the all-new, third-generation Honda CR-V on November 28.

Top sources told Business Line the company is also planning to take on Toyota's new Camry, which debuted in India early this year, with a face-lifted version of the Honda Accord in January 2007.

Company officials remained unavailable for comment.

The new Honda CR-V debuted at the Paris Motor Show only four months back and the India rollout for the car is one of the fastest done by a global car manufacturer.

Those with a penchant for Honda cars can hope to get their hands on the car only in December when it will actually go on sale.

Industry sources are predicting that the car will come in with a premium over competing models in that segment.

The new CR-V is a completely redesigned car with the company going whole hog not just with luxurious interiors but a host of advanced features that will add to safety and comfort of users.

Among other things, the SUV will feature Honda's Advanced Compatibility Engineering body structure.

The Honda CR-V was first introduced in India in 2003 and the company rolled out the second-generation car here in 2004.

Honda Siel is currently in the midst of a capacity expansion project that will see it upping production from the existing level of 50,000 units to 100,000 by end-2007.

The company sold 3,673 units of the City, 1,726 units of the Civic, 165 units of the Accord and two CR-V units in October 2006.
