New Delhi , Nov. 22

The 22nd India Economic Summit 2006, jointly hosted by the World Economic Forum and the Confederation of Indian Industry, will take place from November 26 - 28 here.

The theme of this year's summit is `India: Meeting new expectations' and will bring together over 600 business, political and civil society leaders from around 30 countries.

The theme reflects the increased emphasis on the role of State Governments and public-private partnerships in fulfilling India's future growth objectives.

Ms Sonia Gandhi, Chairperson, United Progressive Alliance, will speak on the theme of `Meeting new expectations'.

The programme is organised under four thematic pillars — State and national competitiveness, managing growth, infrastructure development and risk management.
