2nd highest volume at Coonoor tea sales

The volume continues to be huge at the auctions of the Coonoor Tea Trade Association (CTTA). For the 47th sale to be held on this week, a volume of 14.65 lakh kgs has been catalogued.

This is the second highest volume so far offered this year. The previous high was 15.26 lakh kgs last week.

It is some four lakh kgs more than the offer in the corresponding sale of last year.

Of the 14.65 lakh kgs on offer now, the leaf grades account for 10.15 lakh kgs while the dust grades, 4.5 lakh kgs. Again, as much as 13.49 lakh kgs belong to the CTC variety and 1.16 lakh kgs belong to orthodox variety.
