DESPITE RISE IN PRICES: A farmer sowing paddy on his field near Thrissur, Kerala. Despite prices for rice increasing, the area under paddy is lagging behind during the current rabi season. Till now, 370.59 lakh hectares have been covered under paddy against 373.26 lakh hectares during the corresponding period last year. The area has declined in most of the States.
