Government - Security
Law for private detectives soon

Our Bureau

New Delhi, Nov. 23

There will be a law for the private detectives in the country shortly as there is a law for private security industry, said the Home Minister, Mr Shivraj Patil, on Thursday. "The law will not be for controlling private detectives but for giving encouragement to them," he said.

The Government would be open to suggestions on its provisions from the industry and incorporate them into the law to the extent possible, he added. While speaking on the final day of the International Institute of Security & Safety Management's (IISSM) XVIth Annual International Seminar, the Minister said terrorists were targeting national security and the economy. The need of the hour was to ensure greater cooperation between the public and the private sector in providing national security.
