Our Bureau

MUMBAI: Mumbai port discharged a record quantity of 6,603 tonnes of wheat on a single day last week. Port officials say that it has adequate facilities for handling food grain with berths available for direct berthing on arrival, equipped with sufficient number of cranes for handling and storage space of about 45,000 tonnes in the immediate vicinity of the berth.

Mr V. Ranganath, the port's Traffic Manager, is confident that the port will achieve its target of handling 49 million tonnes this fiscal.
