Visakhapatnam, Nov. 24

Dr B. Pattibhi Sitaramayya, veteran Congress leader of yesteryears and founder of Andhra Bank, was remembered here on Friday in Andhra University, when a reprint of a biography, authored by Prof. A. Prasanna Kumar, was released by Prof L. Venugopala Reddy, Vice-chancellor. The book - a thesis submitted by Prof Prasanna Kumar - was reprinted by Sastriya Vijnana Samiti (Kakinada) with financial assistance from Andhra Bank. A hundred copies of the book were handed over to the university by Mr D. Surya Rao, President of the Samiti, and Dr T. Rajyalakshmi, Vice-President. On the occasion, the vice-chancellor recalled that Dr. Sitaramayya had set up Andhra Bank in 1923 at Machilipatnam, and also Hindustan Ideal Insurance Company and the Andhra Scientific Company in the same place.
