Spot rubber slips further

Aravindan

Kottayam , Nov. 24

The domestic rubber rates moved down further as TOCOM extended its losses on Friday. News on fundamental and technical weakness in global rubber prices hammered the domestic sentiments.

Sheet rubber fell to Rs 76.50 and Rs 76.00 a kg from Rs 77.50 and Rs 77.00 a kg respectively at Kottayam and Kochi. Traders were not interested to retain the sparse arrivals.

Futures down

In the futures front, the December contract for RSS 4 settled down at Rs 73.25 a kg against Rs.74.81 a kg on MCX. The transactions were quoted at 448 (435) tonnes.

The December contract for RSS 4 moved down to Rs 73.90 (Rs 74.94), January to Rs 72.90 (Rs 73.27), February to Rs 73.97 (Rs 74.37) and March to Rs 74.70 (Rs 75.75) per kg on NMCE. The volumes totalled 4,464 (2,745) tonnes. The market declined sharply in the mid session but a late recovery in Singapore futures limited the losses partially towards close, sources said.

The per kg spot prices were: RSS-4: Rs 76.50 (Rs 77.50); RSS-5: Rs 74.50 (Rs 75.50); Ungraded: Rs 73.00 (Rs 73.50); ISNR 20: Rs 74.50 (Rs 75.00) and Latex 60 per cent: Rs 48.40 (Rs 48.40).
