Kovilpatti Lakshmi forays into metal manufacturing

Our Bureau

Chennai , Nov. 24

Kovilpatti Lakshmi Roller Flour Mills Ltd (KLRF) is diversifying into metal manufacturing through its recent part-acquisition of the Coimbatore-based Eltex Super Castings Ltd, a manufacturer of grey iron, SG iron and alloy iron castings.

Tirunelveli-based KLRF at present has three divisions - flour mill, spinning and engineering (where it processes raw material into sheets).

Eltex, with a production capacity of 9,000 tonnes per annum, will help KLRF enter the automotive and auto components market, said Mr Suresh Jagannathan, Managing Director and Promoter, KLRF. The company has acquired 65.44 per cent equity in Eltex.

The Rs 30.6-crore diversification plan, including two 1.25 MW captive windmill units, will be part funded through a follow on public issue of 26 lakh equity shares. Each share will be available at a fixed price of Rs 55 (at a premium of Rs 45 over a face value of Rs 10 per share).
