Kochi, Nov. 25

The Index Committee of Bombay Stock Exchange at its meeting held on November 24 decided to include Geojit Financial Services Ltd in the BSE-500 list. The committee is the final authority on the list of companies to be included in the various indices of BSE. BSE-500 index represents nearly 93 per cent of the total market capitalisation on Bombay Stock Exchange Ltd, a press release from Geojit said. This index represents all 20 major industries of the economy and represents the market in its totality. The BSE-500 index had been calculated on a full market capitalisation methodology and effective August 2005, the calculation methodology was shifted to a free-float in line with Sensex. Other companies included in BSE 500 along with Geojit are MMTC Ltd, Amara Raja Batteries and JBF Industries, the release said. Some other companies have been replaced. These changes will become effective from January 2007.
