Kalyan Jewellers chalks out Rs 1,000-cr expansion plans

The Thirssur-based Kalyan Jewellers has chalked out a major expansion plans involving an investment of Rs 1,000 crore in India and abroad over a period of 10 years.

Of this, Rs 300 crore will be invested in Kerala to set up showrooms at Kollam, Thiruvananthapuram, Alappuzha, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kottayam. Preliminary works for the Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram showrooms have already begun, Mr T. S. Kalyanaraman, Managing Director, Kalyan Jewellers, said at a press meet.

The group also has plans to open a shopping mall with multiplex and jewellery in Kochi and showrooms at Trichy, Salem, Madurai, Erode, Pondicherry, Nagercoil and Tuticorin, he said.

The company has also renewed the contract with Malayalam cine star Mammootty as brand ambassador for the next one and half years. Mr Mammootty will be projected in Kalyan's campaign of "fight against impure gold" and other advertisements, the Managing Director said.
