BASF cuts product range from Thane

Chemical company BASF India Ltd is discontinuing production of some agrochemical products at one of the plants at its Thane manufacturing site. However, the Thane site will continue to manufacture expandable polystyrene, dispersions, leather chemicals and auxiliaries, and textile chemicals. "The agrochemicals market in India is highly competitive," said Mr Chandran, Chairman and Managing Director of BASF India Ltd.

"The need of the day is new chemistry, which is affordable. BASF's strategy is based on innovation and a strong belief in helping our customers to be more successful by offering new and safe technology at the best price." The company said in a press release that it would supply customers with the agrochemical products through alternative sources. Shares of the company rose 4.57 per cent to close at Rs 240.57 on BSE.
