Rupee flat against dollar

Our Bureau

Mumbai, Nov. 29

The rupee was almost flat against the dollar on Wednesday. It opened at around 44.61/63, touched a low of 44.74/75 before closing unchanged at the previous close of 44.69/70. "There was month-end demand from importers. Oil companies were seen buying dollars," said a dealer at a private bank.

The US data on consumer confidence and durables was poor, but the dollar gained against the yen on technical factors. However, the dollar was flat against the euro and sterling. In the forwards, the six-month premium closed at 2.28 per cent (2.06 per cent) and the one-year at 2.03 per cent (1.92 per cent).
