FOR BACKYARD REARING: A rooster being bred by the Project Directorate on Poultry at the Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University, Hyderabad. This type of fowls is meant to be reared in the backyards. The hens can lay high protein content eggs under free range conditions with negligible input cost.

While roosters can give meat up to 4.5 kg, meat from hens could be up to 3.5 kg. The birds, whose eggs are pink in colour, are highly disease resistant.
