Arch Chem of US opens office in Mumbai

Mumbai , Nov. 30

Arch Chemicals Inc, a US-based biocide company, has opened an office in Mumbai to accelerate its sales and procurement activities.

The company is a supplier of water sanitising products, cosmetic ingredients, wood preservatives and biocides for health and hygiene applications as well as industrial products.

"We see tremendous opportunity in India, particularly in the realm of cosmetic and personal care products, water treatment and biocides for use in deterring the growth of mold and mildew in paints, coating, wallboard, ceiling tiles and other building products. We're also exploring the sourcing of key raw materials from India, and we may eventually add manufacturing here as well," said Mr Sanjeev Mantri, Country Manager, Arch Chemicals.

The company has been present in India in a small way for the past six years.

"Revenue from India is a small number right now. We think our products are under-represented in the Indian market. We have talked to some Indian companies about joint ventures or acquisitions but active discussions are not on right now," said Mr Paul J. Craney, Executive Vice-President, Arch Chemicals.
