HC extends stay on BSNL's tender

Our Bureau

New Delhi , Nov. 30

The Delhi High Court on Thursday further extended the stay on award of contract by the state-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd for rolling out 45 million GSM cellular lines till December 14.

A bench comprising acting Chief Justice Mr M.K. Sharma and Mr Justice Hima Kohli granted a week's time to Motorola to file its reply on the response filed by BSNL.

The Additional Solicitor General, Mr Gopal Subramanium, appeared on behalf of BSNL and sought early hearing. However, Motorola's counsel said that they had received BSNL's rejoinder on Wednesday and, thus, required some more time to reply.

Motorola had filed an appeal in the court against BSNL's decision to keep the US-based equipment manufacturer out of the bidding process. BSNL had said that Motorola did not qualify to bid for the project due to techno-commercial reasons.
