Hyderabad, Nov. 30

The Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT) here has set up a national facility for analysis of herbo-metallic products, with financial support from the Union Department of Science and Technology (DST). The facility to be widely useful to the pharma industry was formally inaugurated on Tuesday by Dr Laxman Prasad of the DST. The characterisation of metals in products will be analysed through latest X-ray fluorescence spectrometry at the facility.

Dr J.S. Yadav, Director of IICT, said the facility would help in building the competitiveness of Indian alternative medicines in the international markets. He said it would be made available to pharma and other industries for the analysis of herbal products.
