Hardware States - Karnataka HP launches competency centre in Bangalore Our Bureau
Bangalore Dec. 1 , Hewlett-Packard has inaugurated the India SOA (service oriented architecture) competency centre in Bangalore. Mr Som Mittal, Senior Vice-President, HP Services Technology Solutions Group for Asia Pacific and Japan, said the SOA competency centre was part of a $500 million global investment strategy to deliver service-oriented architecture to enterprise customers. SOA is an approach to deliver IT services in a secure and manageable way that uses loosely connected, reusable and standards-based technology that can be quickly aligned to the changing business needs of the customer. The centre will allow customers and prospects to experience first-hand, HP's SOA capabilities and apply them to the real-world business challenges.
Verticals
The Bangalore Centre will have some 125 engineers and will create the capability creation and service delivery for HP globally. The Bangalore centre will focus on verticals like financial services and insurance; networking services; manufacturing and distribution industry; and public sector; he said. "We are seeing significant traction with customers," Mr Mittal said adding the centre was already working with three customers on SOA including Bank of Baroda. In addition to the India centre, HP has unveiled 2 more SOA competency centres based in California and Singapore.
