Car sales maintain double-digit growth in Nov

Car sales maintained the double-digit growth run seen so far this fiscal in November as well.

Maruti Udyog Ltd saw domestic sales rise 20.7 per cent during November at 52,574 units compared with 43,568 units in the same month last year.

The company's exports were, however, down by 35.7 per cent at 2,459 units against 3,823 units in November last year. Total sales grew by 16.1 per cent at 55,033 units against 47,391 units, a company release said.

Sales of the popular model M800 during November dipped by 18.3 per cent at 6,040 units against 7,397 units in the same period last year.

Sales of the company's compact cars (Alto, Wagon-R, Zen, and Swift) rose by 32.3 per cent at 37,060 units against 28,019 units last year.

Hyundai Motor India reported a 17.8 per cent growth in domestic sales in November at 16,506 units, compared to 14,010 units.

The company exported 8,426 units in November this year as against 7,715 units in the same month last year, indicating a jump of 9.2 per cent, HMIL said in a release.

Honda Siel Cars India, meanwhile, registered a 112 per cent jump in sales to 4,675 units in November, mainly on account of the newly launched Civic.

The cumulative sales of the company during April - November 2006 saw a jump of 52.37 per cent over the corresponding period last year.

General Motors India registered an 11 per cent growth in sales in November 2006 as compared to the same period last year.

It sold 2,554 units in November against 2,303 units during the corresponding period last year.
