Chennai , Dec. 2

What new feature was introduced in the car President Classic 1956? A road in a Chinese town is named after which Indian company?

And which was the first five-star deluxe hotel to be built in India?

These were some of the questions at the tenth edition of the Ad Club-Business Line Quiz, which kept the participants and the audience on their toes.

While the participants failed to answer the first one — Air conditioning — the other two — Sundaram Fasteners and Hotel Ashoke — were answered easily. The final round saw six teams — Sun Microsystems, NTPC, Questa Software Pvt Ltd, two teams from Vizag Steel and an Hindu/Sify combine — battle it out for the honours.

The questions were mainly on advertising and marketing coinciding with the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Advertising Club of Madras. The special focus was on campaigns and events that took place 50 years ago.

Mr J. Rahul and Mr A.G.K. Murty of Vizag Steel won the Ad Club-Business Line Quiz and walked away with a cash prize of Rs 25,000 from Business Line, a Samsung LCD TV and many other prizes.

The second prize went to Mr Surjit Varkey and Mr K.M. Prashanth of NTPC. While Mr V.V. Ramanan and R. Gunasheelan of the Hindu/Sify combine came in third.

Giving away the prizes, Mr T.S. Narayanaswamy, Chairman and Managing Director, Indian Overseas Bank, (title sponsor) commended the participants on the high quality of quizzing.

The other sponsors were the National Institute of Business Management, Samsung and others.
