Finnair Cargo has before it a proposal for increasing the number of flights between New Delhi and Helsinki to five a week from the three now. The additional flights are to be launched from early next year, it is learnt. Finnair Cargo introduced the direct service between the two capitals on October 31 using MD 11 freighters. Since most flights have gone full, the airline is mulling raising the frequency, according to airline industry sources.

In India, Finnair is represented by Global Aviation Services which is the exclusive Indian member of the EGSAC cargo GSSA network having 29 members in 60 locations in 30 countries, the sources add. Meanwhile, Finnair has renewed its contract with Menzies Aviation for cargo handling, airside trucking and landside trucking at London Heathrow.
