New Products & Services States - Kerala Avon launches electric bikes Our Bureau
Kochi , Dec 3 The Ludhiana based Avon Cycles has introduced new generation battery operated electric bikes in the Kerala market. Priced at Rs 16,930, the electric bikes provide local point-to-point transportation. Having brakes, lights and horns as in the case of regular bikes, the electric bike is operated on a battery, which can be recharged within or outside the vehicles. It is equipped with a small electric motor that is powered by a rechargeable three-cell battery. Weighing about 40 kg, the vehicle is capable of carrying a weight up to 70 kg. Riders can also pedal the bike normally or engage the electric drive system. Mr V. S. Sasidharan, Managing Director, VS Marketing Company, the dealers of Avon Cycles in Kerala, said that the electric bikes require no license or registration. It has low maintenance cost too. Moreover, the bikes are environmental friendly, as it produces no emissions, he said. The bikes will have a speed of 23 kmph that was revealed in the test drive carried out by the company, he said, adding that Avon has also assured the availability of all spare parts and after sales service of the vehicle.
