Mangalore , Dec. 4 The New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) has urged coffee exporters from Karnataka to make use of the `Gateway of Karnataka' - the New Mangalore port to move their cargo.
Promotion drive
A press release by Mr S. Gopalakrishna, Traffic Manager, NMPT, said here on Monday that as part of business promotion drive, the NMPT had organised a trade meet at Kushalnagar in Kodagu district recently. The purpose of the meet was to interact with coffee exporters to sort out issues hampering the smooth movement of their cargo through the New Mangalore port.
Cargo handling
Speaking at the meet, Mr P. Tamilvanan, NMPT Chairman, assured full support for transportation ofcargo through the port. He also expressed happiness at the response shown by coffee exporters to move their cargo through the New Mangalore port. The port handled 35,726 tonnes of coffee till October during the current fiscal as against the annual coffee traffic of 21,717 tonnes handled during 2005-06. Mr M.A. Bhaskarachar, Deputy Chairman of NMPT, welcomed the gathering. Mr Y.N. Babu, General Manager, Concor, ICD, Bangalore; Mr S.C.S. Rao, Regional Manager, CWC; Mr Rajashekhar, President of Kushalnagar Chamber of Commerce; and Mr Vishwanathan, President of Indian Coffee Curers' Association, were present on the occasion.
