Aerodrome India to be held in Delhi from Dec 7

The first edition was held in Bangalore as it is the knowledge capital and has an aviation history too.
It has now been shifted to Delhi to address the need for a platform to facilitate interaction between civil aviation authorities and the service providers.

Bangalore , Dec. 4

Aerodrome India 2006, the second edition of the international exhibition and seminar on airport infrastructure and security, will be held from December 7-9 at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi.

The exhibition is expected "to provide a platform for manufacturers of hardware/software related to airspace management, airport operations and security, foreign vendors supplying systems, equipment to the Airports Authority of India and private airlines to interact and network with key decision makers such as the Government of India, the CEOs of greenfield airports under development as well as the CEOs of major international airports under modernisation."

According to a press release, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has embarked on modernisation/upgradation of airports that entails investments of billions of dollars. The Ministry plans to modernise 25 non-metro airports in the second phase upgrade 30 non-metro airports in the third phase. Aerodrome India will help airport authorities and operators identify modern products and services and also provide an interactive platform between vendors, authorities and airlines.

The fair will host 120 exhibitions from 20 countries such as the Netherlands, Singapore and Australia. Some of the key participating companies are Honeywell, Siemens, Tyco, Crawford Doors and ELTA. Last year, there were 108 participants from 16 countries.

Mr Srinivasan S., Senior Vice-President, PDA Trade Fairs, organisers of Aerodrome India, said: "The first edition was held in Bangalore as it is the knowledge capital and has an aviation history too. But it has now been shifted to Delhi to address the need for a platform to facilitate interaction between civil aviation authorities and the service providers."

Apart from the exhibition, a three-day seminar `Aerodrome India 2006 - Developments and Opportunities' will also be held. It will address issues such as terminal management, airspace management, airport environment and connectivity.
