Avaya plans unified packages

Our Bureau

Pune , Dec 7

Avaya, a player in communications, systems and services, plans to roll out a new family of unified communications packages.

Speaking to newspersons, Ms Eileen Rudden, Vice-President of the Unified Communications Division, said that some of the packages would be launched in June 2007.

These new features would include technology from Traverse Networks, a California-based company of enterprise mobility products, which was acquired by Avaya recently.

She said that the company would adopt the multi-vendor strategy and make four packages available to the enterprise segment.

Ms Rudden said that the Essential edition is the first of the packages, aimed at office-based users who require advanced IP telephony and messaging support along with the basic conferencing facility.

The Standard edition would target mainstream users who require advanced mobility tools such as office and mobile communication.

The Advanced edition would cater to VOIP users, while the Professional edition would have video communication and speech recognition.

Ms Rudden said that June 2007 would also see the shipping of the new unified client, OneX portal, which would give access to telephony, messaging and conferencing from a standard Web browser.
