CII meet on facility management today

Our Bureau

New Delhi , Dec. 7

The CII is organising the second international conference on facility management on Friday here.

The conference will focus on facilitating a better business environment by maintaining and developing the agreed services which support and improve the effectiveness of the primary activities of an organisation.

It focuses on the non-core activities of any workplace so as to enable the company and employees to concentrate on their core activity. It spans across sectors such as the BPO, healthcare, real estate, airports, malls and retail stores.

The one-day conference aims to provide an insight into the challenges faced by the facility management industry, solutions derived, drivers used and new trends implemented in the industry globally and address them in an interactive fashion by sharing the best practices and innovations.

The niche market for the facility management industry is estimated at about Rs 300 crore. With the entry of international players such as C B Richard Ellis, Haden, Knight Frank and Sodexo, the industry is expected to have immense potential. Further domestic players in the market are moving away from piece meal contracts and looking at strategic alliances. "The success of the facility manager depends on user need plus the business need. By ensuring a conducive work environment, facility managers will play a vital role in the efficiency of any company,"says Mr Nimish Malhotra, Vice-President Business Development, Vipul Facility Management," in a release here.

Mr Pallam Raju, Minister of State for Defence, will be the Chief Guest at the inaugural session.
