Informatica software for technical courses

Hyderabad , Dec. 7

Hyderabad-based Sreenidhi Institute of Science and Technology has adopted Informatica PowerCenter data integration software for its B. Tech and M. Tech curriculum.

US-based Informatica Corporation will provide the software. "With Informatica's leading data integration solutions, our students will train on the best products in the industry and build on their experience," said Prof Narasimha Reddy, Director, Sreenidhi Institute of Science and Technology.

The institute has bought Informatica software under the World Bank initiated, government-sponsored Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme, which sustains the development of quality technical education in India.

The programme aims to upgrade 70-80 high performing institutions to world-class levels.

Modernisation of laboratories, faculty and staff development, curricula improvements, course flexibility and interaction with industries and research are on the cards, a press release said.

Informatica's partner in this venture is Java Softech. Mr M.V. Raman, vice president for marketing, said Java Softech was working with many educational institutions, mainly universities and affiliated colleges, for the past six years. A large number of high-end software solutions have been included in the course curricula. Java Softech is also in talks with other colleges to include Informatica data integration software in their curricula.
