Security Nevis Networks' secure switch for Patni Our Bureau
Pune , Dec. 8 California-headquartered Nevis Networks, provider of LAN (local area network) security solutions, has implemented the LAN enforcer 1048 secure access switch at Patni Computer Systems Ltd. Announcing this here, Mr Shane Buckley, Chief Operating Officer, Nevis Networks said the system has been deployed to secure conference rooms at Patni's corporate office and Bangalore sites. He said this would be used to enforce access control policies and prevent malware from spreading into the corporate network. He noted that Forrester has estimated the market size of network access control space to be close to $4 billion by 2008. Asked how the Indian market compared, he said Indian market closely followed the US market in terms of sales as the company had only recently set up its European office. Mr Shane, commenting on the investment, said the company would be looking at Series C funding in 2007. And it was probably looking at figures of $10-$25 million, the amount that would be required for a year's operation. However, he said this was too preliminary. It may be recalled that the company has already carried out Series A and B round of funding and had obtained investment of close to $40million. The venture capital investors include NEA (New Enterprise Associates), BlueRun Ventures and New PathVenture.
