Sheet rubber improves further

Aravindan

Kottayam , Dec. 8

Gains in Japanese futures lifted the domestic rubber prices to further highs on Friday. Sheet rubber RSS 4 improved to Rs 82 a kg from Rs 80 and Rs 80.50 a kg respectively at Kottayam and Kochi. Traders are selling in futures and buying from spot, sources said.

Supply concerns being projected as the decisive force behind the current bull run, the main marketing centres witnessed all-round buying interest.

In futures, the January contract rose to Rs 85.45 from Rs 81.56 a kg recording 666 (492) lots on MCX.

The per kg spot prices were: RSS-4: Rs 82 (Rs 80); RSS-5: Rs 80 (Rs 78); ungraded: Rs 78 (Rs 76); ISNR 20: Rs 79.50 (Rs 77.50) and latex 60 per cent: Rs 51.55 (Rs 50.50).
