Mumbai , Dec. 9 The Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI) will honour top players at an annual award ceremony, to be held on December 18. CMAI has tied up with a television channel to help promote and popularise the awards. "By giving the awards more publicity, we are giving more industry members the chance to participate,"said Mr Rahul N Mehta, President, CMAI. KSA Technopak has been roped in as the knowledge partner to conduct the initial research and short list top players in each category. The short listed companies then make a presentation to the jury. The jury comprises members from the industry including Mr Govind Shrikhande, Shoppers Stop, Mr Anil Biyani, Pantaloon and Mr U.M. Lad, Westside. "Companies are judged on criteria like sales growth, profitability, innovation and positioning," said jury member Mr Govind Shrikhande, CEO Shoppers Stop. The Apex awards were instituted in 2003. "We now want to take it to a larger scale," said Mr Mehta. "It would be nice if more companies participated. Today, it is important to create awareness and let more people know that you're there," said Mr Samar Roy Sharma, Head Supply Chain, Raymond Apparel Ltd.
