Unshackling NBFCs

This is with reference "No logic to shackling NBFCs" (Business Line, December 4).

It is imperative that the role of non-banking finance companies (NBFCs) in India is enlarged to allow them to function on a level playing field.

As has been pointed out in the article, the large NBFCs are lending against income/employment generating assets that are priority sector in nature.

And they contribute to economic growth.

NBFCs should, therefore, be encouraged and not shackled unnecessarily.
