Chilli futures up on enquiries

Opening of the India-Bangladesh border on Tuesday after two weeks attracted fresh export enquiries for chilli pushing up futures prices on NCDEX by Rs 270 per quintal to Rs 6,707. There were also good enquiries from Sri Lanka and China.

Mentha oil for January delivery on MCX was up 2.25 per cent at Rs 654 per quintal. Maize futures saw buying interest on NCDEX marking up prices by 1.03 per cent at Rs 781 per quintal. Lack of interest pulled down pepper futures on NCDEX by Rs 169 per quintal to Rs 9,790. Cardamom lost 2.26 per cent at Rs 390 per kg. Urad and tur prices on NCDEX fell by 1.21 per cent and 1.51 per cent to Rs 3,253 and Rs 1,954 per quintal, respectively. After opening the day strong at Rs 1,395 per quintal, soyabean futures rallied to a intra-day high Rs 1,403 and closed low at Rs 1,389 levels. Guarseed was also down 1.16 per cent at Rs 2,038 per quintal.
